Air freshener or odor eliminator: what is the difference?
Air fresheners and odor eliminators are often used as interchangeable terms, but their purposes are not the same. An air freshener gives a room a pleasant scent profile. An odor eliminator is intended to tackle an unwanted smell. The right choice therefore starts with the question of what you want to change in the room.
What does an air freshener do?
An air freshener adds a chosen scent to the room. This can be fresh, floral, fruity, warm, or woody. You use the product to create an atmosphere or to give a room a well-maintained, recognizable scent.
There are sprays for short-term use, reed diffusers for gradual release, and electric diffusers for continuous dispersion. You can explore this application further on the GeurFris air fresheners page.
What does an odor eliminator do?
An odor eliminator is focused on neutralizing an existing, unwanted smell. Think of pet odors, smoke, or general stubborn smells in the home or a business space. This is a different need than simply adding a new perfume.
GeurFris has special Ambielectric formulations for various odor problems. Take a look at the odor eliminators if the unpleasant smell itself is the main issue.
Why masking alone is sometimes insufficient
When a strong, unwanted odor persists, an additional perfume can create a mixture of smells. Cleaning and ventilation remain the first practical steps when the source is accessible. If the smell persists, a neutralizing formulation is a better fit than just a heavier home fragrance.
When should you choose an air freshener?
Choose an air freshener when the room is clean and you primarily want to change the atmosphere. A fresh scent can suit an entrance or office. A warm profile can give a living room more character. In shops and hotels, scent can be part of the overall guest experience.
When should you choose an odor eliminator?
Choose an odor eliminator when you want to tackle a recognizable problem odor. Pet odors require a different formulation than smoke. For general unpleasant smells, there is a broader neutralizing solution. By matching the product to the cause, you do not automatically have to choose the strongest scent.
Can you combine both functions?
Within the Ambielectric range, there are fragrance refills that combine neutralization with a pleasant scent experience. For example, AnimalFresh Citrus is aimed at pet odors and also disperses a citrus scent. There are also neutralizing variants with a much more subtle scent profile.
The dispersion method remains important
In addition to the formulation, the device must match the space. Ambielectric Star has a range of up to approximately 200 m³. Ambielectric Plus has been developed for larger spaces up to approximately 400 m³ under suitable conditions. Both systems operate electrically and use a matching refill.
