A long-lasting air freshener should not just be noticeable when switched on. The scent should disperse gradually throughout the room and remain pleasantly in the background. While the lifespan of a refill is important, it isn't the only factor. Capacity, ventilation, temperature, and placement all determine how you experience the scent.

What makes an air freshener long-lasting?

The importance of appropriate capacity

A diffuser that is too small for an open space may seem barely noticeable, even if the refill is working correctly. Therefore, calculate the volume of the room by multiplying length by width by height. Include open, connected spaces in your calculation.

Why you may start to perceive less scent

When you are in the same environment for a long time, your nose can become accustomed to the scent. This does not automatically mean the refill is empty. Ask someone who has just entered the room how strong they perceive the scent to be, and check the refill before moving the diffuser or choosing a stronger scent.
